Frequently Asked Questions

Who can join Partners In Care?

To receive services from Partners In Care, you must be over the age of 60 and living in one of the counties we serve. All generations are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents.

What is the cost to join the program?

PIC is a time exchange community. Our members exchange services with one another; we do not charge for membership or services. Our expectation is that each member will contribute time (volunteer), talent or treasure (money). We gratefully accept monetary donations as well as gently used clothing & household items which are resold in our Upscale Resale Boutique; proceeds from sales support our programs.

How do I get a ride?

Ride requests have to be made at least one week in advance. Requests must include date, time, and complete street address. After we receive your request, volunteer matchmakers will “match” you with an available volunteer driver in your area. The driver will pick you up at a mutually agreed upon time, take you to your appointment, pick you up from your appointment and take you home.
If you are a member of Partners In Care and would like to request a ride through our Ride Partners program, please call the Transportation Department:
Anne Arundel – 410-544-4800
Frederick –  301-682-7433
Mid Shore – 410-822-1803
Washington County – 410-547-0103

I use a wheelchair, can Partners In Care provide a ride for me?

Partners In Care offers a Mobility Bus service. PIC has four lift-equipped that provide services to individual who require use of a lift in order to board the bus. In fact, any customer can request the use of the lift if he/she is unable to board the bus using stairs. Mobility is an on-demand fee-for-service that provides individuals door-to-door transportation. In some instances, the service is curb-to-curb as the driver is not allowed to leave the bus unattended.

How much time is required?

You choose how often and when you volunteer. You may volunteer as little or as often as you like.

How often can I get a ride?

Members may request up to one ride per week; a request is not a promise to provide a ride. We do our best to match volunteer drivers with members who request rides.

Can I sign up my mother/father?

Our mission is to empower older adults to age independently and in community. Each of our members must be able to advocate for themselves. For this reason, we ask potential members to request membership on their own.
